Iowa organization to give budding musicians their own guitar at event in Northwest Iowa in December

LAKESIDE, IA (KTIV) - An organization, founded in central Iowa, is looking to give the gift of music, one guitar at a time.

In December, Broken Strings, an organization that has been putting the gift of music into the hands of student musicians, will be awarding 30 students with their very own acoustic guitar.

The group was founded by Scott Kirkhart, an Iowa musician, in 2021 to put a guitar in the hands of one budding musician in each school district in Iowa.

Kirkhart tells KTIV that the group is looking for students to submit in writing why they should win one of the 30 acoustic guitars that Broken Strings will be giving away on Sunday, Dec. 12th, in Lakeside, Iowa.

The students need to be in 5th through 9th grades and must submit their letter or email to the group before November 20
