CHERRY CREEK, N.Y. — Fire crews responded to a house fire on Route 83 in the town of Cherry Creek Sunday afternoon.

According to officials from the South Dayton Fire Department, fire companies responded to reports of a house fire at 935 NY-83 at around 12:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Crews from eight companies responded to the structure fire, which may be ruled a total loss due to the extent of the fire, according to South Dayton Fire Chief Bob Traber.

Authorities have stated that one firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation, no other injuries were reported.

An investigation is currently underway on the cause of the fire.
