Nina Otero School welcomes landscaping goats

Nina Otero Community School hosted 32 goats as part of an eco-friendly “goatscaping” initiative led by the Santa Fe Public Schools Office of Sustainability earlier this month.

The herd helped clear vegetation around the school’s solar array enclosure using a natural and sustainable approach to maintenance.

The goats came from Santa Fe Goat Guys, managed by M/M Ranching, which specializes in vegetation management. Dogs Mac and Tango accompanied the herd to keep them safe.

The school and the Office of Sustainability partnered with the goats and their handlers to turn the visit into a learning opportunity, allowing students to observe the goats and connect the experience to classroom lessons.
