(WMTW) - Paris’s Louvre museum is now closed after a major robbery of priceless jewelry and according to our Portland media partner , 29 Mainers saw it unfold.
France’s interior minister told radio station France Inter the suspects stole jewelry from the room that houses the french crown jewels.
WMTW talked with Curt Dale Clark , a tour guide with the Maine State Music Theatre.
The interior minister said the thieves used an external freight elevator on a truck, broke a window and made off on motorcycles this morning with the jewels.
He said the robbery took only seven minutes.
Clark told WMTW that when they saw SWAT teams and military personnel, they knew something was wrong.
There were no injuries reported however French authorities are still searching for the suspects.
