AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Padel courts have opened at the Amarillo National Tennis Center, bringing a sport that combines elements of tennis, pickleball and squash to the area.

Former professional tennis player Alex O’Brien and his foundation helped bring the sport to his hometown.

O’Brien predicts the new courts will be the first of many in Amarillo.

“This is going to be the start of many more courts is my prediction and it will just improve this whole facility,” O’Brien said. “Our whole mission is about tennis but it’s also about bringing fun to Amarillo and this is bringing a lot of fun to Amarillo.”
