Around the country Saturday, college football showcased five matchups, all between ranked teams. All of those games had conference championship or College Football Playoff implications, whether it be No. 9 Georgia beating No. 5 Ole Miss in the SEC or No. 15 Brigham Young taking down No. 23 Utah in the Big 12.

Of those games, the matchup between the No. 25 Michigan football team and Washington wasn’t one of them. Although one could argue it was of similar weight in terms of implications for the rest of the season, it simply wasn’t at the same level.

The Wolverines may still appear to be in the chase for a Big Ten Championship and CFP appearance, but a lack of consistency and inexperience will prevent them from making it to either this season.
