INGLEWOOD, Calif. — This game meant a little bit more to Shane Steichen .

Not because he holds a grudge. Steichen grew up in the NFL with the Chargers, hired first as a defensive assistant and then as a quality control coach with the offense, eventually rising to offensive coordinator in 2020.

The Colts head coach has an enormous amount of respect for the Spanos family, an ownership group that kept him on staff with three different head coaches.

All of that history made him want Sunday’s game a little bit more.

“I’ve got a lot of great memories here,” Steichen said. “This one, for me, was emotional a little bit, just because I have so much respect for the Chargers organization, from the top down to all those players.” Need a news break? Check out the all new PLAY hub with puzzles,
