It was a weekend of memorable state playoff volleyball action, with four Savannah area teams advancing to the GHSA State quarterfinals, while two others saw their seasons come to an end with down-to-the-wire losses in five sets.
In Class 6A, Richmond Hill punched its ticket to the Elite Eight with a five-set win over North Gwinnett, and now the Wildcats (40-2) are set to host North Forsyth on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at a time to be announced.
In Class 5A, South Effingham advanced to the state quarterfinals with a four-set win over visiting Milton. The Mustangs (40-10) will be on the road to face McIntosh Wednesday.
In Class 2A, Savannah Arts earned a berth in the state quarters by sweeping visiting Jackson in three sets. The Panthers are set to host Hart County on Tuesday.
In Class A-3A Pri
