WANAQUE, N.J. (PIX11) – Schools in a New Jersey school district are opening later than usual on Monday due to a serious car crash, according to officials.
Police said the crash happened in front of Haskell Elementary School around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. It's unclear if there were any fatalities or injuries in the collision.
The Wanaque School District is operating on a 90-minute delay across all schools due to the crash.
"We are monitoring the situation closely. If the road closure persists, we may need to cancel school entirely. We will make that final decision and communicate it to all tomorrow morning," school officials wrote on the elementary school's website.
Teachers and other staff are expected to arrive at school at 10 a.m., while kindergarten through 8th grade students will come
