MOORHEAD — Project by project, Amy Riccio is working to make school — and life — better for Moorhead students who are homeless.

Riccio, who works as the homeless liaison at Moorhead Area Public Schools, started by opening a food pantry for students in 2020. In 2021, she opened a clothing pantry. Then it was tackling issues like transportation, mental health and suicide prevention. This year, her project is helping homeless students learn life skills.

The issues facing homeless students are a lot to take in, she admitted.

“So every year, what I do is add a little something,” Riccio said.

But she does not take all the credit for the projects that help connect kids with meals, clothing and resources. She is quick to mention the names of the many community partners that have helped with
