The High Court of Punjab and Haryana, in a notification dated October 20, 2025, has designated 76 advocates as Senior Advocates. The designation, conferred under Section 16(2) of the Advocates Act, 1961, is effective from October 16, 2025. This prestigious title is bestowed upon advocates in recognition of their standing at the Bar, special knowledge, or experience in law.

The notification, issued by the Registrar General under the order of the Hon’ble Chief Justice and Judges, stipulates a significant condition for the designees. Each of the newly appointed Senior Advocates is required to conduct 10 ‘Free Legal Aid’ cases pro bono every year, ensuring their expertise also serves the cause of justice for the underprivileged.
