VIDALIA, Ga. — A man was shot by a Vidalia police officer during a traffic stop on Sunday, according to a press release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
They say it happened at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Two Vidalia Police Department officers pulled a driver over at the intersection of MLK JR. Boulevard and Epstein Street, according to the release.
They say the officers determined the driver — 47-year-old Travis Kelly Parrish — had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The press release says Parrish was tased and then shot while officers attempted to arrest him.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Parrish was taken to a local hospital where they say he's listed in critical condition.
