DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- The Decatur Police Department is investigating after a man was shot at a gathering over the weekend.
Deputy Chief Scott Rosenbery confirmed with WCIA that a gunshot victim, identified as a 31-year-old man, arrived at Decatur Memorial Hospital around 4 a.m. on Saturday. Rosenbery said the victim was at a gathering in the 400 block of N. 20th Street when he heard several gunshots. He then realized he had been shot.
He was taken to the hospital by a vehicle that had stopped to check on him after the shooting, Rosenbery said. He added that the victim didn't know why someone would be shooting at him.
Six spent shell casings were recovered at the scene. No arrests have been made yet.
