IROQUOIS COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- One person died after a house fire in Milford last week. Now, both local and state officials are investigating.

Frank Hines, Chief of the Milford Fire Protection, said firefighters responded to the area of North Grant and East Frederick Streets around 10 p.m. on Oct. 16. When firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed by fire.

Chief Hines said one person -- identified as Ashley Tucker of Milford -- was outside the home when crews arrived. William Cheatum, Iroquois County Coroner, confirmed with WCIA that Tucker was brought to a local hospital after the fire, but was later transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. Cheatum said Tucker later died.
