Penticton-Summerland MLA Amelia Boultbee has resigned from the B.C. Conservative caucus and will be sitting as an independent.
Boultbee’s departure means that five MLAs have now either resigned or been kicked out by the party since the 2024 provincial election last October.
Her departure comes almost a month to the day that her friend Elenore Sturko, MLA for Surrey-Cloverdale, was booted from the party by leader John Rustad on Sept. 22.
Sturko was let go over allegations she had been plotting against Rustad’s leadership — allegations she at first denied but later admitted. A week later, Boultbee changed her social media profile pictures to a shot of her and Sturko, sparking talk that she might leave in solidarity.
