DANVILLE, Va. — Danville Councilman Lee Vogler, who survived a personal attack that left him with third-degree burns over much of his body, spoke publicly from a hospital bed for the first time Friday about his recovery.
Vogler was doused in gasoline and set on fire inside Showcase Magazine in July.
Vogler appeared on a halftime radio program for the George Washington Eagles, hosted by Chuck Vipperman of Southside News Today , an independent online program.
“I'm feeling great, Chuck. Getting better each day. I feel incredibly blessed,” Vogler said. “Just 2½ months ago, I was being airlifted to the UNC burn unit with third-degree burns all over my body. Folks didn’t think I would make it. Me being able to talk to you right now is nothing short of a miracle.”
