CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — Artistic skill, patriotic sacrifice and shared history were on display at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center on Monday as the hospital held its 17th annual Creative Arts Festival.
Veterans from the area showcased their art and vied for a spot at the national competition which will be held next June.
"A lot of these have a lot of deeper meaning besides just making art. A lot of these come from people that have invisible wounds, and this is their therapy," said Navy veteran and art show participant Meaghan Menth, who served from 1997 to 2010.
Menth showcased a total of six pieces at the VA on Monday. This year was the second time she's displayed her work in the VA Art Festival.
The majority of her pieces were line drawings in graphit
