JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. — After two people were shot last October in a road rage incident in James City County, the suspect will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Joseph Adams of Surry County had pled guilty to two counts of aggravated malicious wounding as well as five other firearms charges in July. On Monday, he was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences on the aggravated malicious wounding charges, as well as an additional 19 years in prison for the other charges.

On Oct. 6 of last year , James City County Police and Fire departments responded to reports of a shooting near Monticello Avenue and Greensprings Plantation Drive.

The shooting occurred as a vehicle carrying three occupants turned from Centerville Road onto Monticello Avenue while Adams, driving a red Toyota Sol
