CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 10-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy charged with attempted murder and rape of an autistic girl in Cleveland are set to appear before a judge on Thursday.
Cuyahoga County prosecutors announced the charges last week in connection with a Sept. 13 attack in a field behind the Collinwood Athletic Complex near East 148th Street.
The victim, who is 5, was tortured and left in the field for about two hours before authorities found her, officials said .
The accused children – among the youngest charged with violent crimes in Ohio this year – also face charges of felonious assault, kidnapping and strangulation. They are not currently being held in the county’s detention center, prosecutors said.
The youths are to appear Thursday morning before Cuyahoga County Juvenile
