PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — One person died in a single-vehicle crash on Mount Lemmon after his truck had gone off the roadway, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

David McClure, 66, was identified as the victim of the crash. PCSD said he was a resident of Pinal County.

The fatal crash happened on Oct. 18 around 4:30 p.m. on the eastside of Mount Lemmon. PCSD Vail District officers responded to the scene and found a pickup truck that went off the roadway.

McClure was the only occupant in the car, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to PCSD, preliminary findings revealed that McClure failed to negotiate a turn while driving on an Arizona State Land Road, causing the pickup truck to go over a cliff. The truck reportedly fell around 40 feet.
