DALLAS — The State Fair of Texas donated thousands of pounds of food, donated by its vendors, at the conclusion of the 139th fair. Since 2015, the State Fair Cares initiative has partnered with state fair vendors to donate their unused food and distribute it to non-profits and community organizations in and around South Dallas.

Senior Vice President of Public Relations for the State Fair of Texas, Karissa Condoianis, said donations, “Can range from fresh produce to great meats like, we have bacon, we have steaks, we have turkey legs that are out here that are getting donated today to go help people in need in this direct community starting maybe as early as this evening.”

This year, the food is benefitting 10 food pantries and shelters including:
