TYLER, Texas — A recent state filing reveals when a new wholesale store could be coming to East Texas.

BJ's Wholesale Club, a membership-based store similar to Sam's Club or Costco, will be built at 8667 S Broadway Ave., which across from the Academy and the Village at Cumberland Park and near the Cumberland Road intersection.

Construction is expected to start on Jan. 20, 2026, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. It should be complete around June 20, 2026. The estimated cost is $9 million. The retail warehouse will be 106,059 square feet.

In August, the Tyler City Council approved a zoning change to allow for BJ's Wholesale Club on two pieces of land as well as a special use permit to allow for fuel sales.
