A Missouri prisoner took an office worker hostage on Monday. A state Department of Corrections news release said the prisoner entered a staff office inside a housing unit at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking. That’s when the inmate took the worker hostage.
The department said it began working with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and local law enforcement to resolve the problem. Five hours later, the man released the employee, who was not injured.
Once the offender exited the office area, law enforcement apprehended him.
The Missouri Department of Corrections told Missourinet since the incident is under investigation, it is not releasing information about the identity of the prisoner, why they are in prison, and how long they’ve been there.
