TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A new cafe coming to Tucson’s southside offers more than fresh coffee and pastries. Gospel Rescue Mission’s Opportunity Coffee and Cafe provides paid work opportunities and job training for people experiencing homelessness.
Charles Sawyer, the cafe’s manager, was once a guest at Gospel Rescue Mission after losing his job, home and direction. As a guest at the homeless shelter, Sawyer applied for and received the cafe manager position.
“The position was open for the cafe manager. I applied for it and I was able to get it. So now I’m fully employed and moving out into my own apartment,” Sawyer said. “It’s really put me back on my feet again,”
