More teens are hitting the streets and sidewalks on e-bikes in DeLand, prompting city leaders to consider tighter regulations.

Lt. Mike Stacy of the DeLand Police Department said the past year has seen a noticeable increase in crashes involving children. We requested the data and police officials are working on it.

He said whether it be distracted driving, kids listening to music, kids carrying other bikes or other types of distraction issues with them on bikes.

City officials are exploring ways to better regulate e-bikes, which have become increasingly popular among young riders.
