WASHINGTON — Chess grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky, a former World Junior Champion and popular chess influencer, has died, the Charlotte Chess Center announced Monday. He was 29.

“Daniel was a talented chess player, commentator, and educator, and a cherished member of the chess community, admired and respected by fans and players around the world,” the center said in a statement attributed to the Naroditsky family.

No cause of death was released, and the family has asked for privacy “during this extremely difficult time.”
