A Ridgeland woman is facing two felony child-neglect charges after officers found two 2-year-olds alone in a flooded apartment early Monday, according to the Ridgeland Police Department.

Police said they were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. to the Sunchase Apartments on William Boulevard for a flooding complaint. Maintenance opened the unit when no one answered the door. Inside, officers found an unclothed 2-year-old boy wandering the apartment and a 2-year-old girl asleep in a crib. A bathtub had been left running, flooding the unit and seeping through the ceiling of the apartment below.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts to reach a caregiver, officers took custody of the children and contacted Child Protective Services. Hours later, the children’s grandmother reached the mother, Taylor D
