NEW YORK (AP) — In a story published Oct. 19, 2025, about President Donald Trump commuting the sentence of former U.S. Rep. George Santos, The Associated Press erroneously reported that Santos was the sixth person expelled from Congress. He was the sixth person expelled from the House, not Congress. It also erroneously reported that Santos was the first openly gay Republican elected to Congress. He was the first non-incumbent openly gay Republican elected to Congress, not the first openly gay Republican elected. Finally, the AP erroneously reported a quote from Santos.
