As Fort Wayne Museum of Art's reputation as a center for studio glass continues to grow, it has received a gift of contemporary work with an estimated value of close to $1 million.
New Jersey-based Ralph Lowenbach made the gift of 96 pieces that were collected with his late wife, Dena. The donation announced Monday includes work by Karen LaMonte, Duncan McClellan, Vladimira Klumpar, Michael Pavlik and Judith Shechter.
The museum has not received a final appraisal of the collection's value, vice president and chief programming officer Colleen Huddleson said. The pieces arrived in August and have been undergoing accession, which is the process of formally accepting each one into the museum's permanent collection.
