SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) - Students from Bowling Green Independent Schools visited a Kentucky farm to learn about agriculture and healthy eating as part of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant program.

The field trip to Need More Acres taught students where their food comes from beyond the grocery store. Students picked vegetables and took home fresh produce including squash and potatoes to cook with their families.
“It’s not coming from the grocery store. It’s coming from a farm somewhere, whether it be a Need More Acres farm or a farm in California or Florida,” said Dalla Emerson the director of food service operations for BGISD.
