LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - As the federal government shutdown enters its third week, the city of Laredo is considering a relief for federal workers living the Gateway City who are impacted by furloughs.

District 5 Laredo City Council member Ruben Gutierrez is proposing aid in the form of utility assistance—specifically for water service as the shutdown persists. Gutierrez also states that this is just the first step among others to help aid our federal workers through these uncertain times.

“So, the agenda item that I put on there for today, is an item to help them out with their utility bills, specifically with their water bill.
