GRAND JUNCTION Colo. (KREX)- As Grand Junction’s population continues to rise, some residents say the city is falling short when it comes to accessible transportation and taxi options. One local company is stepping up to help fill the gap.

Med Lift, a non-emergency medical transportation provider, announced plans to expand its services to include general taxi rides. The company was officially approved to operate as a taxi service on Oct. 18 and expects to begin operations this week.

“We started as a non-emergent medical transportation provider and we’ve been doing that for two and a half years,” said Jonny Thuma, general manager of Med Lift. “During that time, we’ve realized that in Grand Junction there’s a need for more transportation.”
