TYLER, Texas (KETK)-- As the UT Tyler women's basketball team is set to start their new season in a couple of weeks, the Patriots were placed near the top of the Lone Star Conference in a recent preseason poll.

The poll ranked UT Tyler at third in the conference, finishing just behind Texas Woman's and Lubbock Christian. The Patriots were also ranked just ahead of West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.

The Patriots are coming off a successful 2024-2025 season where they finished with a 25-5 overall record, including a 20-2 record in district play.

The Lone Star Conference also created a list of players to keep an eye on this year, which included Polina Latysheva, a junior guard. Latysheva is going into her third year with the Patriots and is coming off a solid sophomore season where she
