Police in New South Wales' north-west have released a second appeal for information as they continue to investigate the discovery of a body in a burnt out car last month.

Emergency services found the body inside the charred remains of an unregistered 1996-model Nissan Pathfinder station wagon on the Kamilaroi Highway in Brewarrina, around 100km east of Bourke and 787km north-west of Sydney.

A crime scene was established and investigations began, which lead to searches being conducted at Barwon Four Reserve Brewarrina, where a number of items were seized and will be examined, according to police.

Central North PD Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Andrew Barnes said the body has been identified and the victim's family has been notified.
