CHICAGO (WGN) — Chicago police issued a business alert on Monday, following a string of smash-and-grab burglaries throughout the city dating back to September.

Most of the places hit are small convenience stores across various neighborhoods, according to police. Thieves hit 10 places during the early hours of Monday Oct. 20, including several reported incidents in Uptown in the span of an hour.

Up to eight suspects are involved, police added. In each instance, the group dons black masks and hoodies and enter the convenience store by force after breaking a front glass window/door.

Once inside, the offender(s) takes possession cash from the register, bottled alcohol, and ATMs contained inside.

Police say the suspects' ages range from 15 and 25 years old.
