LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Lafayette Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet announced significant progress on the Johnston Street and Louisiana Avenue Revitalization Initiative, with four engineering firms selected to lead the project.

The initiative aims to modernize one of Lafayette's busiest corridors by improving drainage, utilities and connectivity.

"Johnston Street has been a cornerstone of Lafayette’s history, and it’s time to revitalize it as we continue to grow and mature," said Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet.

The Johnston Street and Louisiana Avenue corridor connects important destinations such as Downtown Lafayette, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Moncus Park.
