FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Former Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan is in "serious but stable condition" at the hospital after he was stabbed Monday evening, according to police.
In a social media post, the Fall River Police Department shared that they received multiple calls around 5 p.m. reporting a stabbing on Hartwell Street. When first responders arrived at the scene, they identified the victim as Flanagan, who was the city's mayor from 2010 until a recall election in 2014.
Police said Flanagan was significantly injured in the stabbing and taken to an area hospital for treatment. The incident is still under investigation as they work to identify a suspect.
