JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal hit-and-run on Monday evening that involved a bicyclist.

JSO says that at around 7:15 p.m. on the 4400 block of Hodges Blvd., a white male in his late 20s was believed to be traveling north when he was struck by "a dark colored SUV." According to JSO, the SUV fled the scene shortly after.

Upon the arrival of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

JSO says that this crash is the 138th traffic fatality in Duval County this year, and the eighth to involve a bicyclist.
