GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - With a recent uptick in sexual assault reports on ECU’s campus, one student organization is taking steps to ensure that women on campus are equipped with self-defense techniques.
Three rapes were reported in the month of October alone. One at Jones hall, Fletcher Hall and Tyler Hall, ECU officials say.
But for the ECU Royalty Cheer team and Royal Court of the Eta Psi chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. on campus, they’re turning fear into empowerment.
“I just find it kind of crazy like, it’s just insane how everything is unfolding and it’s happening back-to-back,” Semya Batchelor, President of the ECU Royalty Cheer team, said.
