An investigation is underway by the Red Deer RCMP regarding an incident involving a youth hockey team that occurred on October 11. The authorities have stated that the investigation is still in its early stages, and they could not provide additional details as of Monday.

A spokesperson for the RCMP urged the public to avoid commenting or speculating about the incident online until the facts are fully established. "We would ask the public to refrain from commenting or speculating online as to what occurred until Red Deer RCMP is fully aware of the facts," the spokesperson said.

The specific team involved has not been named due to the fact that its members are minors. However, the president of the association that oversees the youth team confirmed awareness of a "conduct matter" related to a Calgary team during a recent trip.

In a statement, the association indicated that it took immediate action by initiating a formal review under its code of conduct and notifying the RCMP. "Our priority remains the well-being, development and guidance of all athletes in our care. No additional comment will be provided until the review is complete," the statement read.

As the investigation continues, the RCMP is expected to release more information once it becomes available. The community is encouraged to remain patient as authorities work to clarify the situation.
