JACKSONVILLE, Texas — A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen car ended in Jacksonville.

According to Rusk Police Chief Scott Heagney, the suspect is now in Texas DPS custody. Rusk PD deployed spike strips to stop the vehicle, but a DPS officer was able to bring the driver to a stop at Hwy. 69 N. outside of a bowling alley in Jacksonville following a pit maneuver, law enforcement said.

Law enforcement said the chase began in Angelina County and that the driver fled police at over 130 miles per hour. Heagney said the driver was travelling in a stolen car.

The pursuit came to an end at 10:04 p.m. Angelina County DPS, Cherokee County DPS and Sheriff's Office, Alto Police, Rusk Police and Jacksonville Police were all dispatched to assist in the pursuit.
