A man was struck by a car on the 110 Freeway near Highland Park while trying to evade officers during a car chase on Monday.

Police were in pursuit of the driver of a white van Monday night on the northbound 110 Freeway in Highland Park. As the chase approached traffic on the freeway, the driver, who was traveling on the No.1 lane, exited the van and hopped over the center divider and onto the southbound lanes of the 110.

Shortly after hopping onto the other side of the freeway, a car traveling on the 110 southbound lanes struck the man, sending his body off the road.

The severity of the man’s injuries is unclear.

As a result of the incident, the 110 Freeway has shut down until further notice.
