Social media users have been left dumbfounded after a fish and chip shop menu from 2003 revealed several Australian takeaway staples massively increasing in price.

Between 2005 and 2022 food prices have shot up by at least 62 per cent, with Australia’s food inflation coming in much higher than many other developed nations.

It's been worse for dining out - with those costs surging by 34 per cent since 2019 according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
