On Monday evening, the University of Michigan’s Residential College held the first ever “ Art is Essential ” event in the Keene Theater. The event featured a concert performance of four different musical acts along with a pre-concert talk with the musicians and tabling for different RC art organizations.
Katri Ervamaa, lecturer in the RC Music Program, organized the event alongside Jennifer Goltz-Taylor, colleague and lecturer in the RC Music Program. In an interview with The Michigan Daily, Ervamaa said the origin of the event’s name was inspired by the process of asking for funding to host the event.
