OLYMPIA, Wash. – The arraignment of Gunnar Shubert, the man accused of damaging artifacts at the Washington State Capitol, has been delayed. He is now scheduled to appear in court on November 4.
The delay follows a Thurston County judge's order for Shubert to undergo a 14-day mental health evaluation.
Shubert is accused of breaking into the Capitol building in Olympia on October 5. Police report that he knocked over signs and historic statues and set fire to flags inside the building.
Shubert was arrested as he left the Capitol that night. He was later released without bail following his initial hearing.
