SEATTLE — The good news for Seattle sports fans Monday night: the Seahawks cruised to a 27–19 win over the Houston Texans at Lumen Field.
But the result, while welcome, may have been overshadowed by heartbreak elsewhere.
With Game 7 of the American League Championship Series playing out at the same time, many fans inside Lumen Field found themselves glued to their phones, watching the Mariners’ World Series hopes slip away in real time.
Before the game, one Seahawks ticketholder said, “I'm beyond nervous. Super nervous. Stressed out. All those things.”
There’s significant crossover between Seahawks and Mariners fans, and for many in the stadium, it was a tense emotional juggling act.
“Had I known Game 7 was happening, I'm not sure I'd be walking in right now,” one fan admitted.
