STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police arrested a man after allegedly killing his girlfriend and attempting to commit suicide in a domestic violence incident in Stratford.

The incident happened at a home on Griffin Street Monday night.

Police say the man, identified as Stanley Mulvey, called 911 saying he had just stabbed his girlfriend and now wanted to kill himself. Mulvey told police dispatch that his girlfriend's name was Megan McShane.

Officers found Mulvey laying on top of McShane who was unresponsive on the kitchen floor. Police say they were both covered in blood and a bloody knife was found near them.

According to police, Mulvey refused officers orders to get off of McShane so he was forced out of the home by officers on scene.

McShane was pronounced dead on the scene by Stratford
