Vernon and Linda (Hutchinson) Brooks of Monroe celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 18.

The couple was married Sept. 18 1965, at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Paul Markham officiated.

They celebrated their anniversary at the Island Resort Casino in Harris.

The couple has two children, Douglas and James Brooks, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Vernon was employed by Monroe Public Schools, retiring in 2007. He is a 1964 graduate of Monroe High School. He enjoys doing yardwork, working on cars and listening to music.

Linda was employed by the former Mercy Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2006. She is a 1964 graduate of Mason High School, Erie. She enjoys quilting, playing bingo and club night.
