LOUISVILLE, Ky. — They say their mission is to turn hurt into hope.

For decades, Family and Children’s Place’s Child Advocacy Center has been doing the work of protecting and keeping our children safe from neglect and abuse.

Emily Keaton is a forensic interviewer at the center.

“I interview children with alleged allegations of child sexual abuse and physical abuse,” Keaton said.

After being referred by Child Protective Services or law enforcement, a protective caregiver and the child come to the neutral, child-friendly space. Forensic interviewers are skilled in non-leading questions and can testify in court.
