If ever there was a photo could symbolize how Sioux Falls shows up to protest, the community has just found it.
On Oct. 18, over 3,000 rallygoers took to Phillips Avenue for what was confirmed a peaceful No Kings protest, one among thousands nationwide.
But one protestor downtown stood out.
And he didn’t even plan to leave his house that day.
Although he “cares about the direction the government is trying to take us right now,” George Hamilton had never been to a protest or rally before. His wife, Rebecca Hamilton, hadn’t either, but she felt compelled for this latest one in Sioux Falls.
Her brother had just died the week before.
“It’s been a sad week for us,” Rebecca said. “I’d just been feeling blue.”
